A Westmoreland County woman was killed Thursday morning in Somerset County when her car was struck by a coal truck.

State police said Marlana B. Sarver, 36, of New Florence was driving her 1998 Pontiac Sunfire east on Route 30 in Quemahoning when she stopped to make a left-hand turn onto Route 403. A 1998 Western Star coal truck driven by Michael Sullivan, 36, of Friedens in Somerset County was traveling behind Sarver and was unable to stop and crashed into her car.

Police said Sarver died at the scene, but a male toddler in Sarver’s car, whom police did not identify, survived and was taken to Conemaugh Valley Memorial Hospital in Johnstown, Cambria County, with unknown injuries. His condition could not be determined.
