Havana is a potent mixture of the old and the new. Modern office buildings punctuate the skyline alongside deteriorating Eastern European residential towers. Ancient vehicles, some with more rust than paint, share the road with newer, shinier models, while horse-drawn carts mingle with motorcycles. Flea markets display Cuba holiday mementos - wooden models of cars built in the 1950s, which are still seen on Cuban streets.

‘Yank tank’, ‘máquina’ ‘cacharro’ and ‘bartavia’ are all words used to describe the American classic cars in Cuba. It is the only place where history and circumstance have combined to enable a whole society to preserve these amazing vehicles and turn them into a national treasure.

About 150,000 classic cars for sale existed at the time of the 1959 Cuban Revolution when the U.S. imposed a trade embargo on Cuba. After this, international trade was made very difficult, so the cars that were present at the time have been nurtured and cared for ever since.

Of the 60,000 classic cars in Cuba, about half are from the 50s, another 25 percent from the 40s and a similar number from the 30s. There are classic Chevrolet cars, classic Chrysler cars, classic Ford cars, classic Dodge cars, etc seen on Cuba’s roads today.

Nostalgia :
As a clash of cultures and ideologies, few experiences compare with that of rounding a corner in the heart of Old Havana with its crumbling baroque buildings and coming face to face with a gleaming 1955 Thunderbird that looks as if it had just been driven off the lot.

Cubans are increasingly aware of the value of classic cars, particularly when visiting Americans become nostalgic about them. They realize that there is business to be made from hiring them out, and it is therefore possible for those on holiday to Cuba to hire out a classic car for the duration of their stay. Although there are more classic cars in the US overall, an American would have to go to Cuba to see a concentration of the cars filling the streets like a snapshot of 50s USA come to life.

Cuba holiday makers feel they have stepped into a time warp to that perhaps more innocent age, when Americans sported prim and proper outfits and drove shiny, sparkly-wheeled cars in brilliant colours with fins and chrome bumpers. Most owners of classic cars and antique cars spend hours applying waxes and polishes and basking in the praise and admiration of passers-by. Some even reminisce about a time when their cars were new, and life itself seemed brighter and as inviting as an open highway.

To own one of these vintages defines who you are, how you spend your time and how you wish to be known, and Cubans will go to incredible lengths to keep their classic cars running. 1950’s bumpers and tailpipes are recreated and myriad other parts are adapted. Steering wheels carved from wood, hub cabs made from aluminum cans and plastic sheets for windows are common. While such shortcuts would be frowned upon in the United States, classic car lovers admire the Cubans’ ingenuity and their ability to keep the cars running.

The Future for Classic Cars in Cuba :
Each day these cars get closer to extinction. They are now outnumbered by boxy Russian Ladas, Volga sedans and more recent Eastern European and Japanese imports. But the biggest threats to Cuba’s classic cars are the scarcity of parts and lack of original factory literature to maintain them with uniform standards.

Hopefully they will still be preserved for years to come, even if they become increasingly temperamental with all the alterations they go through. If you’re thinking of hiring a classic car on your Cuba holiday make sure to make a ceremonial splash of rum on the car’s floorboard for good luck!

Horse trailers are non-motorized trailers that attach to your new or used truck for transporting horses. There are several different styles and models to choose from, depending on your preferences and requirements.

Extensive price ranges allow you to choose from a used livestock trailer, starting around $500 US Dollars (USD) to the elaborate gooseneck or fifth wheel luxury horse trailers with living quarters. These can run well over $100,000 USD.

The simplest and most economical of horse trailers is a livestock trailer. They have an open bay interior for loading and transporting horses. Most fit three or more horses with a step up for loading in the rear of the trailer. Their lightweight steel frames with aluminum shells make them less stable or comfortable than an actual horse trailer, however. Rusting is the biggest concern for this option.

If you do not trailer your horse often and just need an emergency, medical transport, you might want to consider a bumper pull trailer. Most people that transport their horses to occasional shows or trail rides also prefer this style, as they are cost effective, comfortable and safe. A ball hitch coupler connects to a ball under or on the rear end bumper of your vehicle. Many are fitted with a tongue jack to raise or lower the coupler for easy connection.

The slant-load horse trailers load the horses so they stand at an angle with padded partitions between each horse. They are better for smaller horses, as larger horses prefer the roomier, straight load stalls. One of the main advantages of slant load trailers is that your horse can lower his head and breathe more comfortably and naturally. His muscles are more relaxed in this position as well. In the stall straight-loads, there is a shelf in front of your horse for feeding.

The bumper pull trailers have end loading with full-width rear ramps or step up loading. They are much more stable and solid than the livestock trailers. With the exception of livestock trailers, most horse trailers come with tack quarters to store your tack, feed and gear. They also have good ventilation systems, which is imperative on long hauls.

The gooseneck and fifth wheel horse trailers are the most comfortable, elaborate, functional and reliable. The gooseneck involves installing a ball in the bed of your truck that connects to a coupler. The fifth wheel is a more durable version of the gooseneck and installs to a kingpin on the bed of your tow vehicle.

The new or used horse trailers for sale come in all sizes ranging from two stalls to five. Most have exceptional ventilation systems, ramp loading and large, comfortable stalls. Living quarters involve sleeping quarters, bathrooms with showers, kitchenettes with self-contained or hook up options.

The larger gooseneck or fifth wheel horse trailers have side loading ramps so horses can load and unload head first without having to back out. Normally, two horses will face forward and two backward with one on the side. For those who prefer the slant-load models, they can comfortably fit 6-8 horses.

In the United States, professionally transporting horses ranges from $2 USD per mile for cross-country destinations to $5 USD per mile for local, within 200-mile (322-kilometer) trips. The price will depend on the destination, conditions and how fast you need your horse transported. Often it will take weeks to transport your horse across the country because they have to organize routes to pick up and drop off horses on the way.

If you are moving horses on a regular basis, you can easily justify purchasing your own horse trailer, even if you choose to hire someone to drive it for you. It is also nice for your horse to become familiar with his own transportation vehicle. Transporting your own horses assures you that they are comfortable and safe while traveling.

Another way is to attach the drum by chaining the drum to a drum faucet from the cab of the forklift. This way, the forklift operator has the option to control the speed at which the drum contents are dumped by operating a chain pulley.

Carpet poles are long, sturdy poles that are used to carry roles of material such as carpet. They can be mounted to the carriage or to the forks. Carpet poles are useful because they allow forklift operators to safely transport carpet rolls by putting a pole through the hollow center of the roll. The carpet is not able to roll around during movement as it would if it were merely sitting on the forks.

A man basket is perfect when a person needs to be lifted off of the ground in order to perform some type of maintenance or repair. The forks of the lift slide into slots on the bottom of the man basket to provide stability. The forklift operator can then use the forks to lift the person in the man basket as high as the forks can rise. Most man baskets have a swing door and a safety chain to insure that the person doesn’t fall out. Man baskets are often safer than ladders or scaffolding.

Ford F-150 trucks has been the sales leader in its class for years, but the competition is getting tougher all the time. Every other automaker like is after as big a chunk of the market as it can get, along with the coveted title of best selling. Ford is well aware of the competition and has no intention of giving up the title without a fight, and the plans to stay on top include this brand new Ford F-150.

The 2009 F-150 is a total redesign, one that Ford approached at as an opportunity, looking at every area of the truck to see where improvements were needed. Did they succeed? It looks good, but we won’t know for sure until buyers start driving trucks off of truck dealer lots.

2009 F-150 Highlights :

A recreational vehicle park (RV park) or caravan park is a place where people with new or used recreational vehicles like Class A, Class B, Class C motorhome, travel trailer, fifth wheel, Park Model RV, truck camper motorhomes etc can stay overnight, or longer, in alloted spaces known as pitches. They are also referred to as campgrounds, though a true campground also provides facilities for tent camping; many facilities calling themselves “RV parks” also offer tent camping or cabins with limited facilities.

RV parks range from rustic facilities with no or limited utility hookups, as often found in state/provincial parks and national parks, to luxury resorts with amenities that rival fine hotels. Some high-end resorts restrict the type of RV that can stay to motorhomes of a certain length or longer, and/or newer than a certain year.

Most RV parks are open to allcomers and rent spaces on a nightly or weekly basis, much like a motel or hotel. A few parks operate on a time-share basis. There are over 13,000 privately owned RV parks and over 1,600 state parks that cater to RVers in the USA. Many of these RV parks offer WiFi hotspot access on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis.

Most RV parks are independent or operated by a government entity. In North America Kampgrounds of America, KOA, is the largest and best-known chain of RV parks, with Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park Campgrounds a distant second. Good Sam Parks are mostly independently owned RV campgrounds endorsed by the Good Sam Club, a large association of North American RVers that is operated for profit by the Affinity Group, Inc.

Depending on what make and model of SUV you choose, some get as good or better gas mileage than some large cars. For example, the 2004 Honda Element Car for sale gets 22 miles to the gallon in the city, just 2 miles per gallon less than the 2004 Honda Accord. At highway speeds, the Element gets 8 miles per gallon less than the Accord, a larger, but not huge, difference Also, more and more auto manufacturers are designing hybrid gas-electric SUVs that provide better gas mileage along with the traditional extra space and power of SUVs.

Another major consideration when choosing between a car and an SUV is safety. Most people assume that, because of their larger size, that SUVs are safer than cars. However, crash tests conducted in 2003 proved that large SUVs were only slightly safer than mid-sized cars and were actually slightly more dangerous than large cars. SUVs also can roll over when taking turns at high speed, something that cars are far less likely to do. Drivers who are switching to new or used SUV cars after many years of driving cars may need some practice to learn to drive their SUV safely.

Many people think that SUVs, due to their larger size are more comfortable and have more cargo capacity than new or used cars. To a certain extent this is true, but it depends heavily on what make and model of SUV you choose. Some SUVs actually have limited cargo space, though almost all have the power to haul a trailer. As far as comfort, many drivers prefer being higher up from the road, but older drivers and those with disabilities may have a hard time getting into the raised seats. Additionally, buckling a child into a car seat installed in the recommended back seat center position may be difficult for shorter moms and dads.

Finally, if you do a lot of city driving and, more importantly, parking, SUVs are less maneuverable and harder to parallel park than traditional cars. Even in the suburbs where most people park in lots, the spaces may not be wide enough for certain SUVs.

Gulfstream Sells Large-Cabin Business Jet Aircraft

Gulfstream has sold its first large-cabin business jet aircraft in China with the recent multi-aircraft sale of three mid-range G350s and one ultra-long-range G550 to Hainan Airlines Group.   The four aircraft will be used as charter aircraft by Deer Jet, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hainan Airlines Group. This aircraft order marks the first fleet purchase for Beijing-based Deer Jet.

Deer Jet is the first business-jet charter operator in China and the leader of Asia’s private jet industry in terms of fleet size and occupancy rates. Deer Jet’s current eight-aircraft fleet, which includes a Gulfstream IV and two Gulfstream G200s, reach more than 125 airports within China and 136 international airports.  With nearly 4,000 charter flight hours logged every year, Deer Jet currently serves more than 70 percent of the China business-jet charter market.

“With the addition of the three Gulfstream G350s and the Gulfstream G550 aircraft, we will be able to optimize our fleet and capacity to meet the demands of our growing customer base,” said Mr. Liu Zhiqiang, chairman of Deer Jet Ltd. “These aircraft for sale will primarily serve our high-end customers, including central government officials, local Chinese and international business leaders, representatives from foreign governments and celebrities.”

The ultra-long-range G550 can fly 6,750 nautical miles nonstop, while the G350 was developed for shorter routes up to 3,800 nautical miles. Both aircraft feature low noise levels and short take-off and landing distances, that enable them to fly into and out of smaller airports. They also share the same PlaneView™ flight deck and the same pilot type rating.  This translates to better utilization of flight crews, reduced pilot training costs and lower costs relating to service and parts inventories.

“We are extremely pleased to be providing Gulfstream aircraft to Deer Jet,” said Gulfstream President Joseph T. Lombardo.  “We appreciate the confidence Deer Jet has in our products and our company and look forward to serving them in the future.” Gulfstream plans to deliver the three G350s consecutively in the second, third and fourth quarters of 2010 and the G550 in the first quarter of 2011.

As the big-boy in Dodge’s arsenal of trucks, the 3500 is capable of towing 16,850 lbs. and has a payload capacity of 5,180 lbs. This makes the Ram 3500 a more better choice if you need to tow a race truck, jeep, buggy or your 40-foot fifth-wheel travel trailer to various events.

In most of the cases, diesel trucks can handle this type of chore but Dodge does it cleanly, with its newest power plant, the 6.7-liter Cummins turbo-diesel. The 6.7-liter engine produces 650-lbs.-ft. of torque and 350 horsepower. Although these are impressive numbers for towing applications, it’s the fact that this engine already meets the Federal government’s 2010 emissions standards that makes it feel like you’re doing your share to pollute less.This good feeling while your drive is going to cost you however, as the Bluetec Ultra-Clean Diesel System is an option that includes several components such as a Particulate Filter and NOx Storing Catalyst.

On the highway the Dodge Ram 3500 truck rode smooth, especially when towing a car hauler. The 68RFE automatic six-speed transmission also performed flawlessly, allowing us to stay in gear longer on hills and downshifting when needed to help us slow down to a stop.

Compared to the Ford F-350 truck and the GM Silverado/Sierra HD, the Ram’s 6.7 liter is quieter than the engines of its competitors. The interior of the Ram is much nicer than the Ford, but if you’re looking for ultimate luxury from a 1-ton truck, the Ram has to play second to the GMC and Silverado. Nevertheless, considering the 3500 Ram retails for $54,010 (price as tested), it’s priced less than a comparably equipped GM or Ford truck, and yet carries the same or more amenities. This makes it a good value for anyone who needs a big truck, to tow your big toys.

Engines- At the time of assessing the engines the most important thing is the soot or the leakage. If you find anything like this then the engine is of no use. However, at the presence of this kind of leakage you can always go for servicing to see how things are working.

The bearings and the swing gears are also require to be checked. It is also important to check the condition of the hydraulic system through moving of the bucket, dipper and the boom. At the end you are required to check the excavator drive system. You have to test drive the excavator for a short distance. If the excavators are running the way you want them to then in all probability they should run without stopping.
