Electrical problems can be tricky as many times instruments don’t completely fail, the problem is intermittent. Before a problem can be corrected or replaced it can sometimes take several tries and some good detective work.
Technicians can be held liable for the aircraft’s safety if they cut corners in anyway. No shortcuts are allowed, the safety of the aircraft always takes priority over unhappy passengers due to a flight delay. It may need for an aircraft to be taken out of service altogether if there is a need for any replacement or repair to an instrument.
The responsibilities of aircraft instrument technicians and mechanics include installing, overhauling, testing and measuring instruments that monitor the pressure and temperature of the aircraft. Their task also includes the checking of communications, navigation equipment and the electronic components of the aircraft. This is to certify that everything is working properly.
It is essential to check the aircraft for any repairs that need to be carried out, before takeoff. This is normally done at a repair or assembly base. Some mechanics and technicians work outdoors. It is dependent on what work needs to be done. It is more convenient for technicians and mechanics to work in the evenings. This is because there is a great deal of air traffic during daytime hours.
They have to understand the dangers that electricity presents. To lessen the chance of a serious injury occurring, wearing safety equipment is required. There are some really small places where they have to squeeze their way in to check the aircraft for maintenance and repairs.

Gulfstream has sold its first large-cabin business jet aircraft in China with the recent multi-aircraft sale of three mid-range G350s and one ultra-long-range G550 to Hainan Airlines Group. The four aircraft will be used as charter aircraft by Deer Jet, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hainan Airlines Group. This aircraft order marks the first fleet purchase for Beijing-based Deer Jet.
Deer Jet is the first business-jet charter operator in China and the leader of Asia’s private jet industry in terms of fleet size and occupancy rates. Deer Jet’s current eight-aircraft fleet, which includes a Gulfstream IV and two Gulfstream G200s, reach more than 125 airports within China and 136 international airports. With nearly 4,000 charter flight hours logged every year, Deer Jet currently serves more than 70 percent of the China business-jet charter market.
“With the addition of the three Gulfstream G350s and the Gulfstream G550 aircraft, we will be able to optimize our fleet and capacity to meet the demands of our growing customer base,” said Mr. Liu Zhiqiang, chairman of Deer Jet Ltd. “These aircraft for sale will primarily serve our high-end customers, including central government officials, local Chinese and international business leaders, representatives from foreign governments and celebrities.”
The ultra-long-range G550 can fly 6,750 nautical miles nonstop, while the G350 was developed for shorter routes up to 3,800 nautical miles. Both aircraft feature low noise levels and short take-off and landing distances, that enable them to fly into and out of smaller airports. They also share the same PlaneView™ flight deck and the same pilot type rating. This translates to better utilization of flight crews, reduced pilot training costs and lower costs relating to service and parts inventories.
“We are extremely pleased to be providing Gulfstream aircraft to Deer Jet,” said Gulfstream President Joseph T. Lombardo. “We appreciate the confidence Deer Jet has in our products and our company and look forward to serving them in the future.” Gulfstream plans to deliver the three G350s consecutively in the second, third and fourth quarters of 2010 and the G550 in the first quarter of 2011.

Cessna Aircraft Company, headquartered in Wichita, Kansas, is a manufacturer of general aviation aircraft, from small two-seat, single-engine aircraft to business jets.
The company traces its history to June 1911, when Clyde Cessna, a farmer in Rago, Kansas, built a wood-and-fabric plane and became the first person to build and fly an aircraft between the Mississippi River and the Rocky Mountains.
Clyde Cessna started his airplane ventures in Enid, Oklahoma testing many of his early planes on the salt flats. When bankers in Enid would not loan him the money to build his planes, he moved to Wichita. In 1924, Cessna partnered with Lloyd C. Stearman and Walter H. Beech to form the Travel Air Manufacturing Co., Inc., a biplane manufacturing firm, in Wichita. In 1927 he left Travel Air to form his own company, the “Cessna Aircraft Company”, to build monoplanes.
Company making Cessna Aircraft for sale closed its doors from 1932–1934 due to the state of the economy. In 1934, Dwane Wallace, with the help of his brother Dwight, took control of the company and began the process of building it into a global success.
After World War II, Cessna created the 170, which, along with later models (notably the 172), became the most widely produced light aircraft in history. Cessna’s advertising boasts that its aircraft have trained more pilots than those of any other company. Cessna was bought by General Dynamics Corporation in 1985, and it stopped producing piston-engine aircraft the next year due to concerns over product liability. In 1992, Textron Inc. bought Cessna and soon resumed producing light aircraft.
Marketing Initiatives :
Cessna has always had an active marketing department. This was especially notable during the 1950s and 1960s. During this period, the marketing department followed the lead of Detroit automobile manufacturers and came up with many marketing slogans or buzzwords to describe Cessna’s product line in an attempt to place their products ahead of the competition.
Other manufacturers and the aviation press widely ridiculed and spoofed many of these marketing terms but between Cessna’s designers producing a product that the flying public wanted and the work of the marketing department, Cessna’s aircraft for sale were more than any other manufacturer during the aviation boom years of the 1960s and 1970s.

The F-86 Sabre Jet was a line of airplanes used first during the Korean War. There were several different models that served two different functions. One type was designed to be a war plane or low-level bomber. The other type was designed to be interceptors that were adept in all sorts of climates and conditions. Across the board, these were high-speed planes, capable of traveling up to 650 miles per hour. Over a six-year period several models of the Sabre held world speed records.
U.S. production of the F-86 Sabre Jet discontinued in 1956. Not before the line set several more speed records, and proved itself a battle worthy fighter plane. Many consider this the best war plane of its age.
The F-86 Sabre Jet introduced several new technologies to airplane manufacturing. These included speed brakes, powered controls, pressurized cockpits to name a few. Pilots who flew this plane claim its engineering was second to none, even going so far as to suggest an intuitive relationship between pilot and plane. These planes are often compared to the Russian MiG planes of the time. In many ways they were known to out perform MiGs. They had an amazing ability to climb quickly, and dive even faster. Many consider this the only airplane capable of taking on the Russian MiG aircraft.

According to “the New Piper Aircraft company, headquartered in Vero Beach, FL, they have a 70 year history of developing and manufacturing aircraft, with more than 144,000 Piper airplanes brought to market and more than 160 models certified. An estimated 90,000 of those Piper airplanes are still flying and being serviced and supported on every continent by Piper’s 65 service centers, 40 dealers and 2,500 field personnel.
Today, Piper is the only general aviation manufacturer to build and offer aircraft for every general aviation mission, from trainers and high-performance aircraft for personal and business use, to turbine-powered business aircraft … and now, the Piper Jet. When Mr. Piper introduced the Piper Cub in 1937, he had a dream. He felt that everyone should fly. And he believed that Piper Jet could provide everyone with that freedom.
The PiperJet from the New Piper Aircraft company is an exciting new entry into the very light jet market, although it can be considered for the personal light jet category. The PiperJet was officially announced at the 2006 NBAA show in October of 2006. One of the most significant features of this Piper Jet is the cabin space, with 293 cubic feet it is the largest cabin in both the very light jet and personal light jet classes.

Cessna 550 Citation Jet is a twin-engine business class jet aircraft. It forms part of the Citation series of aircrafts brought out by Cessna which were initially characterized by twin turbo-powered engines and straight wings. The jets of Cessna Citation series have long been the mainstay of corporate air travel in the United States.
The Cessna 550 Citation was another name of the Citation II series developed by Cessna in order to improve upon its Citation I aircrafts. The latter had proved to be successful in the market of business jets with its turbo-fan engines and ability to take off from smaller airfields. The Citation II improved on the previous version with a greater seating capacity of a maximum of ten passengers.
The Cessna 550 Citation aircraft also acquired a more powerful engine compared to the Citation I. Citation II was equipped with JT15D4 engines which gave it a greater speed as well as longer range. The aircraft made its debut flight on January 31, 1977 and around a year later in March 1978, it received its certification for two-pilot operation.
An upgraded version of the Cessna 550 Citation II was the Model 551 which came to be known as the Citation II S/P. the latter was developed to compete in the Turbo-prop segment as most of the turbo-prop aircrafts were flown by single pilots. Yet another improved variant was the Model S550 Citation S/II which employed a more powerful engine of the JT15D4B class. Other than that it also had an upgraded design which gave it superior aerodynamics.
The Cessna 550 Citation II has found uses in other fields as well. It has been acquired by the Aircrafts Operation Center of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to aid in the acquiring of remote sensing imagery. The Citation II has had thirteen Hull-loss accidents with a total of thirty five fatalities. While it does not have any history of hijackings or other criminal occurrences, Citation II has had thirteen occasions of other types of hull-loss occurrences without any fatalities.

More than 80 commercial aircraft have unexpectedly encountered volcanic ash in flight and at airports in the past 15 years. Seven of these encounters caused in-flight loss of jet engine power, which nearly resulted in the crash of the airplane. A range of damage may occur to airplanes that fly through an eruption cloud depending on the concentration of volcanic ash and gas aerosols in the cloud, the length of time the aircraft actually spends in the cloud, and the actions taken by the pilots to exit the cloud.
Ash ingested by jet planes may lead to the immediate deterioration in engine performance and engine failure. The principal cause of engine failure is the deposition of ash in the hot sections of the engine. Glass from melting volcanic ash will coat fuel nozzles, the combustor, and turbine, which reduces the efficiency of fuel mixing and restricts air passing through the engine. This causes surging, flame out, and immediate loss of engine thrust. Ash may also seriously erode moving engine parts, including the compressor and turbine blades, which reduces the efficiency of the engine.
Volcanic ash is highly abrasive because it consists of hard, sharp rock fragments that easily scratch and erode plastic, glass, and metals. Any forward-facing surface of an airplane is likely to be damaged, including the cockpit and forward cabin windows, landing light covers, leading edges of wings and tail rudder, engine cowlings, and the radar nose cone. Cockpit windows may become so abraded and scratched that pilots have extreme difficulty seeing the runway on which to land the plane.
Air that enters an airplane’s interior first passes through the engines. Some ash particles ingested through the engines will travel through the plane’s ventilation ductwork throughout the plane. The ash may clog air-filter systems and spread throughout the cabin, contaminating cabin fixtures, carpeting, seat covers, and cushions. The ash can also damage the plane’s electronic system, including power generators and navigation instruments.

With technology exploding in every industry it is no surprise that it is and has been happening with aircraft cleaners as well. These “New Technology” chemicals that are hitting the market in aviation are truly remarkable. The days of using Mop & Glo and Lemon Pledge for deice boots are long gone.The days of using “Cheater Wax” or a bottle of polish from Auto Zone on your airplanes paint have long past as well.
The weekend warrior who still wants to go out on a Saturday morning and polish up his Cessna 152 airplane may still use those types of products for a quick cleanup, but they are what they are. They are fast cleaning chemicals that do not last and give very little protection to airplane surfaces. If you are looking for more longevity on protecting your airplanes cosmetic appearance, the products that are available now will add years of life to your airplanes exterior surfaces.
Over the past few months a liquid wet,dry wash product wash has been tested and manufactured, which is now named as “Aircraft Cleaner”. The typical liquid aircraft cleaners that have a neutral or mid range PH to wash aircraft exteriors along with others that have a higher PH for cutting ability have been manufactured and sold . Meaning, although they are safe for an aircraft cleaner in the proper dilutions and application areas and are definitely needed in our industry, there are chemicals hitting the market now that go way beyond just ordinary aircraft cleaning ability and PH levels that we are all used to.
